Sharon “Shar-Baby” Newport -
Shar-baby was introduced to music as a child by her father who was a Gospel singer and Aunt Rosie who dated Little Walter. When she was eleven, Sharon acquired her first guitar. When she was 15 her music teacher heard her voice and asked her to join their band Check-Mates part II.
At sixteen she started her own band Soul Sensations. Two years late she formed an R&B duo with her sister Sunshine and they performed for fifteen years as the Braylock Sisters. As time allowed she also played with Soul singer Lonnie Woods best known for his 1966 recording of Shakin’ Sugar. Today she is taking life a little easier, but is still very active on the festival circuit. This February she represented the state of Indiana at the International Blues Competition in Memphis. Shar-Baby is affectionately known as “the little lady with the big voice”.

Sharon is awesome! I must find her email address soon. Miss ya!
