Is you is or is you ain’t
One of the greatest songwriters ever, the late great Townes Van Zandt said “There are only two kinds of songs: there’s the Blues, and there’s zip-a-dee-doo-dah”.

Jam for Duane
The ‘Jam for Duane’ was created back in 1976 by Brent Sibley to honor the music and legacy of the late great Duane Allman. The event has grown over the years from a humble small gathering of loyal musicians, to now playing host to people coming from all over the United States and abroad. Notable past performers include, Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers/Derek Trucks Band, Jack Pearson of the Allman Brothers/Jack Pearson Band, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie/Prisoners of Love, Lee Roy Parnell, Tommy Talton, Scott Boyer, both from the super group Cowboy and now, the Capricorn Rhythm Section. (Both Tommy and Scott have solo bands as well). The Capricorn Rhythm Section with Bill Stewart, Johnny Sandlin, Paul Hornsby, Tommy Talton, and Scott Boyer. Dick Boyden, Issac Pike, Lefty Collins, so many more.
It is a living history of music that will be performing this year. Lefty Collins and the No Mercy Band, The Capricorn Rhythm Section featuring Bonnie Bramlett, Col. Bruce Hampton and Band, The Jack Pearson Band ( Jack may be the best slide guitarist since Duane!).Issac Pike, Albert Simpson, The Skydogs, and more.....
The Friday show on October 26th is a ticketed event. Tickets are $30/per and can be purchased from the ‘Big Men of Gadsden’ or by calling 205-625-6780.
The Jam for Duane event on sat, October 27th, is free and the doors open at 12noon.
There will be an ‘open jam’ from 12:30-4:30, then the scheduled performers play from 5-11:30. This event is BYOB and food is welcomed as well....bring a picnic basket and cooler and make a day of it!!

Tapestery Interview
From the WBHM site:
Blues music is as native to the south as barbecue and grits. But many of the blues legends are getting up in age and some folks are beginning to worry the tradition will suffer. Not if the Magic City Blues Society has any say in it. The society started nearly 15 years ago in hopes of preserving this Blues. This weekend, fans will converge on Sloss Furnaces for Blues Fest 2007. WBHM’s Tanya Ott invited Magic City Blues Society president Paul Walters and musician Leonard Watkins to get us in the mood.
You can hear the inteview and read more at WBHM
